Dwarf Trees For Your Northern Virginia Landscape?
Most people spend plenty of time thinking about and planning their floral design in their annual landscaping plan, but have you ever considered dwarf trees for your Northern Virginia landscape? These smaller trees are perfect for small-yard design, and add a unique touch for most landscaping ideas.
New homeowners in the Washington DC area may not be accustomed to small-yard plantings and simply pick the plants, trees and shrubs they like. Instead, homeowners need to focus on choosing the appropriate sized vegetation for their limited amount of space. If not, the landscaping design they spent hours agonizing over will be ruined when the plant becomes too big for the space.
Mugo Pines are a dwarf tree that is mostly characterized as a pine tree, but is used for groundcover. These evergreens spread broadly, making them a very popular chose for landscaping projects with a lot of area to cover.
Alberta Spruces are also commonly included in landscaping plans because they remain pretty small for quite a long time. Often used as flanking plants — one planted on each side of a front entrance - they also can be treated as a container plant for porches and gazebos. Even though the Alberta Spruce is a dwarf tree, it can reach a height of 12 feet.
Japanese White Pines are related to Eastern White Pines, but are hardier and more durable. Unlike the Eastern White Pine cousin, the Japanese White Pine does not have a propensity to break limbs or create a huge landscaping mess that must be cleaned up. This dwarf tree makes the perfect accent to most Northern Virginia landscaping projects.
