Why Erosion Control is an Important Element of Your Northern Virginia Landscape
Making sure you support the earth and protect your yard from any run-off is an essential component in maintaining your Northern Virginia landscape. Erosion control is the practice of preventing or controlling wind or water run-off in a landscape, which in turn prevents soil loss. Erosion control mechanisms often involve the creation of a physical barrier, such as a retaining wall, to absorb some of the energy of the wind or water causing the erosion.
Erosion control techniques allow plants time to establish themselves and keep water from carrying soil from your site and dumping it in nearby areas. Retaining walls are commonly used to level or retain slopes, keep soil intact, and maintain a healthy amount of water on slope landscapes. Retaining walls can also be used for structural support.
