Choosing A Water Fountain For Your Northern Virginia Garden
The sound of flowing water provides tranquility when incorporated into an overall landscaping plan such as a water fountain placed in a flower garden. But with so many options available on the market today, choosing a water fountain may not be as easy as you may think. Carefully considering what you want to achieve with your water fountain and your overall landscaping design is the crucial first step in choosing a water fountain.
The first place to start when choosing a water fountain for your outdoor living space is the price consideration. Determining early on in the process how much you want to invest in your water fountain will greatly reduce the selection of water fountains — which is not necessarily a bad thing given the quantity of options to choose from. Resin and lightweight fiberglass water fountains are less expensive than those made of cast stone or solid granite are. This factor alone will weigh heavily on choosing a water fountain.
Meander through your garden and determine where you think the best place for a water fountain is. This consideration obviously comes into play when determining the size and shape of the water fountain you install in your garden. The shape and style of the water fountain that is best for your garden may be different than what you had originally envisioned, but it is better to determine that before you begin choosing a water fountain. If your garden is vast a small water fountain may simply disappear among the beautiful flowers and plants, while smaller or moderate-size gardens can look overpowered by a large water fountain.
The position and placement of your water fountain will probably be determined greatly by the location of the nearest source of water and electricity outside. Even the placement of spotlights — if desired — around the water fountain should be taken into consideration before choosing a water fountain. If an electric source is not available in your desired location, you may choose to opt for a solar powered fountain and spotlights instead.
