Illuminate Your Northern Virginia Water Feature for Maximum Effect
Outdoor lighting is an easy way to create new dimensions and effects in your Northern Virginia yard – so why not use lighting to add a new dimension to your pond, fountain, or other water feature? Water feature lighting lets you enjoy your water feature at night and accentuate the parts of your feature you’re most proud of, such as the surrounding plants or even the rippling water.
There are several types of outdoor lighting to choose from, each providing a different look and effect on your water feature. Submersible lighting can create a glow across the surface of the water and illuminate any floating plants or fish. Spotlights at ground level can showcase a fountain, water surface, or surrounding plants. Solar floating lights take the hassle out of installing electricity- or battery-powered lighting, while backlighting creates a silhouette of the entire water feature. When highlighting a fountain, try angling the light up at the fountain to catch the movement of the fountain bubbles.
No matter the type of outdoor lighting you choose, try to choose a light with a neutral colored casing to hide its presence during the day. White light is most effective with outdoor lighting – but be sure to keep your water clear and algae-free for the best effect.
